It’s Friday and I’m at Nights Of Passion.

You aren’t in the Twilight Zone.

What am I doing there on a Friday?

I’m asking you, who are you really? Does the type of traveler you are relate to the type of reader and writer you are? Find out when you take the quiz and find out what Mason is really like.

RWA the aftermath!

Over the next, while I’ll try to share with you what I’m doing different based on what I learned at the RWA conference.

The first thing I’m doing different is:

I’m plotting in advance more. I can’t say that I’m doing well in this area yet but I’m spending time in what I call preproduction figuring out how the novel is going to come together.

Why have I done this?

I’m hoping it will reduce my rewrites. Part of me knows this is wishful thinking because I’m a firm believer in rewriting right up until the you send back the source file the editor gets.

This probably makes me a horrible person but it isn’t over until the Chief Editor sings in my humble opinion.

How’s that (plotting / planning) working for me?

It’s helping me plot the next books in the series I’m working on. At this point I don ‘t feel my creative process is hindered but I’m currently in an edit and critique mode. Not so much writing new material.

I have the concepts behind two new series one is a Dark Fantasy called KINGDOM, which I’m considering six volumes to.

The other is a two book superhero style novels the first KNIGHT RAVEN and the second KNIGHT SHADOW.

Two movies that have influenced me

After dismal, weather we are finally getting some sun and warmth here. Oh, where is here? I’m about two hours north of the the Niagara Falls. One of the most popular wedding spots in the world. But I like to go there for the history. How typical of me. I can be found time-to-time when family comes to visit taking them to the falls and sending them on a boat ride. I don’t do boats. That’s right, I was born on an island, on the east coast of Canada, but I get very seasick. What can I say, it’s just another odd fact about me.

Just because I’m in a strange happy mood today, I’m going to share two movies that have influenced me. This may explain a lot.

Scanners (1981)
Genre: Horror | Sci-Fi | Thriller
Written and directed by David Cronenberg

I might have been as young as seven or eight when I first saw the movie. The really horrible part for me was I had to wait until 1991 for the next installments in the series came out. Scanner Cop came out in 1994. Davied I can’t believe you made me wait that long to see the follow movies.

The Birds (1963)

Genre: Horror | Romance | Thriller
Directed: Alfred Hitchcock
Writers: Daphne Du Maurier (story) and Evan Hunter (screenplay)

The idea that nature was going to turn against us was awesome to a young mind. Maybe, I was scared into environmentalism.

I guess I’m a product of what I love to watch. I’m a fan of both the directors’ work. They have many more great movies.

I hope my books bring a mix of Horror or Dark Paranormal or Sci-Fi with a Thriller aspect and some hot romance elements.

What’s your favorite sexy horror movie or book?
